HAPPY HALLOWEEN 2009!!!!

What can I say? A better Halloween I have never had and it's not quite over yet!
With a moon lantern in tow I trapsied barefoot after my children trick or treating under the full MOON!!! The rain held off untill we got home....

It was a foggy, overcast, and magical outside today, just a beautiful day to get out and enjoy the peak of fall...

I had to get out into the woods today and celebrate. So I snuck out alone and spent part of the afternoon running through the woods and fields with my trusty familiar, Angus the red dog!!
We found my favorite type of moss, I call it Witches' Moss...

Just LOOK at the glorious fall color! Even under a blanket of clouds...the colors still shone. It was a treat to take in all the woodsy sights and smells!

The creek was flowing and I climbed around on my favorite fallen tree spot...

I like to sit on this one horsey style and watch all the fish below....

Between climbing and playing I run after Angus through the trails!

He is such a fine companion on a nice woods hunt...

These trees actually look like lovers. Its such a peaceful place.

Angus blends into the woods like he is a wild animal...

I love how this tree twists and turns, going accross a ways before it grows up straight again. Just like a larger one I grew up climbing on the farm!

These acorns are humongous. I love looking at them and sticking some in my pocket!

Later that evening its TIME to let the festivities begin! My sister Dusti carves a Jack..

Even Ellie has the knack!!!
After we eat some chili we get all dressed up, and get ready ride in an old Dodge truck!!!
Jim is my devil and I'm his witch...

Soon with loads of candy we'll all be RICH!!!
Ellie's the best in her striped witch stockings...

My three trick or treaters...

Ellie andI... Her MiMi and Aunt Dusti and made her dress..it was beautiful with traditional criss-crossing orange ribbon going up the front!!

Cassie was a corpse bride...
Danny was a vampire....

I just love how runny dead girl make up can't hide Cassie's glamour....

Dusti and Ellie cutting up in a haunted garage...

Danny with Misty heading up the street...

Dusti and Cassie, her pillowcase just starting to fill..

Seeing a scary site gives her a thrill!

My sister Dusti and husband Jim...two devlish scorpios, my next of kin!!!

Our neighborhood goes all out! We found this graveyard and hung about..

A devlishly good time was had by all! Did I mention, I never want to say goodbye to FALL!!!??)
Jim and I at our absolute best...I made his horns out of model magic, painted them and stuck em on with gum spirits.....next year I may have to make some huge ones and turn him into PAN!!!

I can't imagine my parents doing THIS!!!!
My dad always took us trick or treating in HIS old red truck...it was soooooo much fun. My sister and I would run from house to house and he would have some spooky show on the radio! We would go untill we nearly dropped! Seems like our Mom would stay home and dole out the treats from there, and really enjoyed seeing and talking to all the trick or treaters. But she always loved to hear about it all when we got back. Dad always carved Jacks to die for, too.

Danny with Misty again in the truck...
it was fun getting in and out and running amuck!!

Towards the end, my little vampire would say " I have enough candy" and started skipping houses....soon more and more lights started turning out and so we rode home in the truck and called it a night. They're all dreaming of ghosts and goblins and candy and witches. Its raining hard now.....

Hard to believe it won't come around for another year!! And I'll never have another one with a 3, 7, and 11 year old again. Each year is one more to cherish! Goodnight my little vampire, corpse bride and witch!!! I love you little goblins!!!
HALLOWEEN MORNING!!!
It's Halloween! I took a few pictures from around the house today...more to follow later as Halloween Night approaches! I have three very excited revellers awaiting costumery...Ellie is a witch, Cassie, a corpse bride, Danny, a little vampire, myself, a witch, and I am turning Jim into a devil! I have sculpted a set of horns to go on his head and am making him a cape and a pitchfork....more pics to follow later! We are also carving jack o lanterns out of pumpkins, finishing some of my moons, and making Halloween cookies!! Friends and family are coming over tonight and Jim is making chili!!

My Halloween table....I brought out my owl collection...

Front porch with pumpkins awaiting transformation...

My skeleton posts sentinel hanging from the front door...you can see the gloom and fog!! Lets hope the rain holds off!!

I love these traditional Halloween icons...REAL scary witches, skeletons, pumpkins, jack o lanterns, leaf litters, cats and bats....

Here is a peek into my cabinet in the studio...where its Halloween and witchy year round...it holds paint and glitter inspiring images and little snips of this and that...glue and string and scissors and ornaments, gold leaf and sizing and light bulbs and trim...miniature lamps await moon tops...small half finished moon ornaments...candles and real tiny skulls...feathers and found objects galore!!

Small books and cards on tarot and Halloween...

A half finished wall hanging moon commission int the works...I didn't like the looks of him so added some more sculpting and will sand and re-paint soon...

Cats awaiting paint and sticks or hangers...

Some of Danny's little Halloween playthings...a wind up Frankenstein and his, as he calls them, "Sharp Teeth"...
One of my favorite thrift store finds, this Lon Chaney looking thing moves and lights up...the little skeleton figure by his side is also Danny's, he also dances lights up, and unfortunately, sings "Liven la vita loca" UGH!!!

One of my favorite all time witch marionettes. I want to make some like this, its on my "to-do" list!

Happy Halloween everyone and more pics later!! I'm off to paint devil horns, make a pitchfork, and carve up some moons...
