Well, here it is half way through October and I've hardly written a thing in months. How do artisits find time to blog anything if they are creating? Here are three that are all going off to their new home. I started experimenting with smaller, one faced sizes and found out they were really fun. I'll still do the giant Man in the Moons but am going to throw in some little ones for fun too. I did a painting that I just loved, recently.

Laura Irrgang and Brandi McKenna finally meet!

My favorite Texan artist Laura Irrgang flew all the way to Charlotte N.C. to meet me last week! She is an incredible painter and fellow Halloween artist.

Man in the Moon Boo lamp

Here is a fun lamp I made that has a night light in the mercury glass looking base that when lit reads "BOO!"

More lanterns and oddities

Jack O lantern Hot Air Balloon

I made this jack o lantern hot air balloon based on this old postcard. It was so much fun making the figures, I used horsehair for the witch's broom and hair from my cat Scratch's tail for the witch's grungy hair. The devil and veggie people are all typical characters found in the old early twentieth century Halloween postcard art. I love how the net hangs there like spanish moss off an old tree.

Man in the Moon Lamp

Here is my latest and greatest....I took an antique lamp base, painted and dressed it up, and created one of my moon lanterns to fit the top...where a glass globe would normally go! Its up for auction on eBay right now. I hope to do a lot more of these, assuming I can find more antique lamps.
