It was an incredible day out at the farm today, where we spent the day with my Dad and went swimming in the big pond! The view out accross the water to the surrounding woods, grasses, and fields is breathtaking! You can see way off in the water where my girls are out in the tubes with their aunt!
I swear next time I am going to put my camera in a ziploc bag so I can get pics from the middle of the water! Would make a great painting! The pond is springfed and it has been years since we have been able to swim in it much due to the duckweed that had taken it over. There was some clearcutting of some woods by the dam for more farming, and now it is much sunnier and open and the duckweed has not grown accross the entire pond and I hope it wont! I grew up swimming here...both in innertubes and on our horses.. and so it is SWEET to be back in it and with my children to carry on the tradition!Today was the perfect mix of sun and breeze and not too hot, a glorious day.
My sister Dusti and I after our swim...
My Father and his girlfriend Connie are both artists also and they paint plein air..this is Connie's unfinished painting still wet on the easle today...she did this with flat, bright, mid-day light...she is REALLy good. Its a view form the porch to the little pond in the horse pasture. I love this willow tree, too. To see more of her work visit her blog

She painted this while we were off swimming, probably in two hours or less!
And here is Danny getting sunscreened up to go fishing in the little boat with his dad, who won't swim in a pond! They were so cute paddling around in the boat, though.
