I made this jack o lantern hot air balloon based on this old postcard. It was so much fun making the figures, I used horsehair for the witch's broom and hair from my cat Scratch's tail for the witch's grungy hair. The devil and veggie people are all typical characters found in the old early twentieth century Halloween postcard art. I love how the net hangs there like spanish moss off an old tree.
Here is my latest and greatest....I took an antique lamp base, painted and dressed it up, and created one of my moon lanterns to fit the top...where a glass globe would normally go! Its up for auction on eBay right now. I hope to do a lot more of these, assuming I can find more antique lamps.
I love working with my hands to create one of a kind art oddities...I love Halloween and try to capture the spirit of fall, fire, smoke, burning leaves, candy apples, witches, carved pumpkins and full harvest moons...Aaaah, October!
